Nutrition & Reproduction
The relation between nutrition and reproduction has been discussed at the 9th EEHNC (see our archives for proceedings). Pascale Chavet-Palmer and Morgane Robles contributed to a new review that provides the reader an update on “Pregnancy and placental development in horses. The importance of maternal nutrition is also addressed. The latter theme was also addressed by Bradbery et al. (2021) that studied the effect of maternal overnutrition on predisposition to insulin resistance in the foal. The authors also identified muscle specific changes in gene expression and downstream insulin receptor signaling. The stallion got also attention in 2021. One study and one review related to the supplementation of stallions are included in the reference list below.
